Activating an ENT account at the start of the school year is no longer just about entering a username and password. In several academies, access to the digital workspace now goes through an authentication chain that starts on EduConnect before redirecting to the regional platform, then to Pronote or another school life service. This overlay of portals creates bottlenecks that traditional guides, often focused on a single procedure, do not clearly distinguish.

ENT Activation Path Based on Authentication Scenario

Not all institutions offer the same path to access the ENT. Depending on the territory and deployment schedule, three scenarios still coexist at the start of the school year.

Scenario Entry Point Required Credentials Note
EduConnect (majority) National EduConnect page EduConnect or FranceConnect username Then redirects to the academic ENT and then to Pronote
Specific ENT Username (being phased out) Regional ENT portal Username and activation code provided by the institution Some colleges still announce the end of these old usernames in 2026
Direct FranceConnect ENT or EduConnect page FranceConnect account (Impots.gouv, Ameli, etc.) Avoids the creation of a specific ENT password

The first scenario concerns the majority of families. You can find useful information on Campus Recrutement to identify the exact path for your academy. The second scenario persists in institutions that have not yet transitioned, which explains why some parents receive a paper letter with an activation code while others are directed to EduConnect from the start.

Confusion often arises from this territorial discrepancy. A parent who changes academies between two school years may discover a completely different path from the one they knew.

Parent-Child Link on EduConnect: The Real Bottleneck

Having valid EduConnect credentials does not guarantee access to your child’s school data. The parent-child link is a distinct step from account activation, and this is where the bottlenecks are concentrated.

Upon the first login to EduConnect, the system displays the list of children linked to your account. If your child does not appear, you will not see their grades, schedule, or the school’s messaging system. The technical activation is complete, but functional access remains empty.

Common Causes of an Absent Link

  • The institution has not yet transmitted the parent-child link in its SIECLE database, which often happens during the first weeks of September when late registrations are still being processed.
  • A data entry error in the parent’s name or first name (missing accent, forgotten hyphen) prevents the automatic matching between the EduConnect account and the school file.
  • The parent has created a second EduConnect account instead of reactivating the old one, resulting in a duplicate without a link.

In all these cases, the solution lies with the institution’s administration, which is the only one able to correct the SIECLE database. No action on the parent’s side can force the link if the information is not present in the institution’s system.

Password Security and Phishing Risks at the Start of the School Year

The proliferation of portals (EduConnect, regional ENT, Pronote) creates a favorable ground for phishing attempts. Emails mimicking the EduConnect interface circulate at the beginning of the school year, inviting parents to “reactivate” their account via a fraudulent link.

Always check the URL before entering your credentials. The official EduConnect page is always found on a .education.gouv.fr domain. A link received by email that redirects to another domain should be ignored.

Creating a Strong ENT Password

ENT platforms impose varying criteria. Most require at least six characters, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and a number or special character. However, some regional platforms accept shorter passwords, which weakens account security.

A unique password for the ENT, different from that of personal email, limits the impact of a potential data breach. If you use FranceConnect to log in, a specific ENT password is not necessary, but the FranceConnect account itself must be protected by robust authentication.

Differences Between Middle School ENT and High School ENT: What Changes at Activation

Families with a child entering high school sometimes discover that the high school ENT is not the same platform as that of the middle school. Depending on the regions, the transition from middle school (managed by the department) to high school (managed by the region) results in a complete change of interface.

The EduConnect account remains the same, but the destination ENT changes. The parent username does not need to be recreated. It is the redirection after authentication that differs, as it points to the portal of the new local authority.

This change requires reconfiguring browser favorites, finding the messaging system on a different interface, and sometimes re-accepting the terms of use specific to the new platform. The content of the old ENT (messages, shared documents) is generally not transferred.

For families with multiple children in different institutions, EduConnect centralizes access, but each ENT remains a separate environment. Switching from one to the other involves navigating between two distinct interfaces after the same authentication.

The determining factor remains the link in the institution’s database. A properly activated EduConnect account, a validated parent-child link in SIECLE, and a check of the login URL are sufficient to avoid the vast majority of reported bottlenecks each school year.
